Most people who leave MileIQ are not looking for a thinner mileage tracker.
They want the miles they already earned, automatic capture going forward, and one place for what those drives
actually cost — including a trip-log PDF/CSV with an illustrative mileage column for your country. Carspel is
built for that combination.

MileIQ, import the CSV, and Carspel maps Category and Purpose into business, personal, commute, medical, or
charity — with start/stop, distance, parking, and tolls.
- Keep capturing drives. On Family,
Ultimate, and Trial, Auto Trip detects drives in the background. You Confirm drafts and set the category — no
opening the app before you pull out. Basic uses Live trip on Add trip, or you type a trip.
- See the whole garage. Those trips sit on
the same timeline as fill-ups, charge sessions, and service. Mixed petrol, diesel, LPG, plug-in hybrid, and EV
households share one garage. When you sell, the vehicle log can transfer to the buyer.

What you can import today
In the Carspel app, open Tools → Import data
and upload a CSV or Excel (.csv, .xlsx, .xls) file. Choose the data type, map columns
(automatic where possible), and import into a vehicle in your garage. MileIQ exports are detected
automatically.
- Vehicle info — make, model, year, VIN,
purchase details, odometer, and related fields.
- Odometer & fuel/energy records — date,
odometer, quantity (litres, gallons, or kWh), cost, station or charger name.
- Maintenance records — date, service type,
odometer, cost, shop name.
- Trips — MileIQ trip CSVs, plus other trip
spreadsheets you map by hand. Date, start/stop, distance, category, purpose, notes, parking, and tolls.
Carspel matches columns to its own fields. Unusual export
formats may need manual mapping. Duplicate trip rows (same vehicle, date, distance, and start place) are
skipped. MileIQ reimbursement totals stay in MileIQ — Carspel stores distance and category, then you use Carspel
reports for your records. A Carspel JSON backup restores a full Carspel garage; it is not an import from another
app.

MileIQ & TripLog

Auto Trip is
not a drop-in MileIQ clone: you Confirm drafts rather than swipe-classifying in the same
workflow. Live trip on Add trip tracks GPS while that screen is open, and is hidden while
Auto Trip is Active so the same drive is not recorded twice. Basic does not include Auto Trip. Import is a
one-time copy, not a live sync with MileIQ.

Carspel adds

Four steps to import
- Export a CSV or Excel file from your current app — MileIQ trips, Fuelio or
Drivvo fuel and service, or a vehicle list.
- Install Carspel and add the vehicle you are importing into. The name on a
MileIQ row is a label; you choose the Carspel vehicle.
- Open Tools → Import data, choose the file,
and map columns. MileIQ files are recognised automatically. For trips, you can optionally enter the odometer
at the first trip so Carspel can chain distances afterward.
- Review imported rows in the trip log, Fuel & energy log, or Service log.
Then turn on Auto Trip (Family, Ultimate, Trial) — or keep using Live trip / typed trips — and continue in
Carspel.
Common questions
Can I import my MileIQ trips?
Yes. Export a trip CSV from MileIQ, then open
Tools → Import data. Carspel recognises the file, maps Category and Purpose into business,
personal, commute, medical, or charity, and brings start/stop, distance, notes, parking, and tolls. Pick the
Carspel vehicle for the import. You can optionally set an opening odometer so later trips chain from there —
that is an estimate from trip distances, not a copy of the dashboard. Duplicate rows are skipped. MileIQ does
not include fuel or service; import those from Fuelio, Drivvo, or another export if you have them.
Is Auto Trip the same as MileIQ?
It solves the same job — capture drives without tapping Start every time —
but the product around it is different. Auto Trip is included on Family, Ultimate, and the 30-day Trial (full
Ultimate access during the trial). You Confirm drafts and set the category; it is not swipe-to-classify. Live
trip on Add trip remains for Basic, and for Family/Ultimate/Trial when Auto Trip is Off or Paused. What MileIQ
never stored — fuel, charging, service, household sharing, resale-ready history — is already in Carspel. Trip
log PDF/CSV and tax-style mileage reports are available for your records; they are not tax advice.
Will my Fuelio or Drivvo export work?
In most cases, yes — if the export includes dates, odometer readings,
quantities, and costs in columns Carspel can map. Extremely custom spreadsheets may need manual mapping.
Electric kWh rows should use quantity and cost columns; set the vehicle powertrain to Electric or Plug-in
hybrid after import if needed.
Does Carspel sync with my old app after import?
No. Import is a one-time copy into Carspel. After that, Carspel is the system
of record for what you log here — including new Auto Trip drafts you Confirm.
