# Trip log summary and mileage allowances

## What every country gets

A Trip log summary (PDF and CSV) with categories, distances, expenses, and related fields. That export does not require a published mileage table.

## Illustrative allowance column

For some countries Carspel can add a dollars column from a **published official table** (cents per mile/km, including published tiers). This is a worksheet aid. It is not a filed deduction, not a tax return, and not advice.

Shipped tables (app 1.0.0+24):

- United States
- Canada
- Australia
- United Kingdom
- Ireland
- New Zealand
- South Africa

If no table exists for that country, vehicle type, and date, **omit dollars**. Do not invent a rate.

## Do not invent

- France *barème* (needs chevaux fiscaux / CV; Carspel does not support that scale).
- Unpublished later years (for example future UK, NZ, ZA, or AU years that the agency has not published).
- A single household-wide “tax refund” number.

Canada and Australia Insights 5,000 km caps, and the UK 10,000 mile Insights cap, are **household-wide**.

In Australia and New Zealand, user-visible trip tax labels say **GST**, not VAT.

## Plans

- Basic: current-year trip log + illustrative allowance where a table exists.
- Family / Ultimate: multi-year trip logs and country tables as above.

More official tables will be added as demand grows. Until then, every country still gets the full trip PDF/CSV.
